1-way container rentals

Most cargoes moves around the globe in an effecient and cost effective manner using carrier's containers

Some do not!

Avoid extremely expensive container demurrage by using Shippers Own containers (SOC)

What is container dumurrage?

This is charged by the shipping line when there is extended use of their container. At import the receiver has a number of days to collect the import, empty and return the container to the shipping company. If the free days are exceeded the meter starts ticking.

Demurrage charges accrue really quickly and can be extremely expensive. We know of instances where demurrage is measured in thousands of £'s and often it is many hundreds!

The TITAN 1-way rental alternative

Rent containers where you need to load and ship as usual, move from port storage and empty when it suits you. Return the empty containers in clean condition to TITAN.

What does TITAN 1-way rental cost?

We need to know the where from and the where to as fees are based upon the beneficial or detremental impact of the move. China to UK destinations are typically £ 50-125 per 20' container if returned within 100 days.

If more than 100 days

If you keep the container for more that agreed period then rental is charged daily for extra days after the free period, Daily rates are typically between £1 and £2.50 per day. Much less than shipping line demurrage!

Any hidden costs or benefits?

  • No hidden costs
  • There is the possible hidden advantage of reducing the transport costs as TITAN will happily accept at inland locations where shipping lines may demand empty return to UK ports.

If your import or export shipments are impacted by container demurrage charges using TITAN 1-way rental is likely to save you serious money.

Bio missing

I have worked at TITAN for over 27 years, in fact since the opening day of TITAN in the UK … January 1993. Starting my TITAN business life in my converted garage, several offices in North London and latterly to our HQ in Grays I have had a commercial/sales brief throughout. More recently I have concentrated on TITAN`s UK property portfolio and our continued expansion into more container centres and self stores.

But my first love is shipping and the logistics involved of moving containers around on a global basis, both with one way rental, which TITAN as a group excels at, and also shifting TITAN's container imbalances from areas of surplus to demand….same time improving fleet utilsation and optimising locally situated containers supplies here in the UK.

I look forward to investigating how TITAN can add value to yor business, so please give me a call or Email to discuss your needs.

best regards, Phil

Some shipping lines demand a seperate Shippers Own Certificate and/or photos of each CSC plate. If you are buying or renting containers that are to be used for shipping and logistics please make this 100% clear at the time of order.

What is CSC and why is it important?

All shipping containers carry a CSC Container Safety Convention data plate. All the data showing is to essential to the many stakeholders in the international shipping an logistics industry. All containers being used for loaded transport should have a valid CSC data plate.

ACEP and PES

TITAN operate Automatic Container Examination Programme where containers are inspected everytime we see them in a depot. TITAN also update under the Periodic Examination Scheme where maximum validity is 30 months after the containers are 5 years old.

  • If you are shipping certain hazardous cargoes and especially IMCO class 1 explosives there can be additional requirements including containers without any repairs.
  • If you are shipping to Australia and some other countries cleanliness of biological debris inside and beneath the floor might be a requirement.

If you are in doubt - please ask TITAN
