Rocsys is shaking up the charging market with hands-free solutions that connect electric vehicles to power sources. When they wanted to see how their tech performed at different temperatures, they came to us.
THE CHALLENGE
After graduating from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, Crijn Bouman founded Europe’s first EV fast-charging company.
Not long after the business was acquired by ABB, Bouman spotted a gap in the autonomous vehicle market for a hands-free charging solution.
His new company, Rocsys, is now leading the way in next-gen charging solutions for battery-powered vehicles, with applications across public transportation, logistics, seaports, airports, material handling and more.
To ensure flawless performance of Rocsys’ hands-free charging technology, the company is committed to research and development.
Which is where TITAN comes in.
They wanted to know if we could provide them with a portable cold storage unit capable of freezing down to minus 40°C.
And, they asked, could it also blast out temperatures up to 45°, too?
THE SOLUTION
Rocsys’ autonomous charging system, the ROC-1, is designed for outdoor use. It needs to withstand even the harshest weather conditions.
That means both arctic and tropical temperatures.
Having proven itself as a testing centre in the tech space many times, TITAN’s famous ArcticStore cold storage container was the obvious choice.
Equipped with best-in-class insulation and all-new energy-saving technology, it is used by TITAN clients in almost every sector, from catering and food storage to pharmaceuticals.
After hearing Rocsys’ needs, we suggested they rent a 20ft ArcticStore from us.
We also explained how we have bigger and smaller options (40ft and 10ft) if their needs change – and that our mind-numbingly powerful Arctic UltraFreezer could drop temperatures to -70° if they needed to push their autonomous charging solutions even further.
THE DELIVERY
The Rocsys 20ft ArcticStore was delivered on the back of a Hiab vehicle and swiftly moved into place at their Delft HQ.
The client only needed the container for a couple of weeks, so renting was the smart solution. Not only does hiring from us mean you can try out a container for a very short time, but it also means you can adapt your capacity as needs change.
While large, ArcticStores are easily manoeuvred into place by our skilled in-house delivery team.
THE RESULTS
Top secret! As with most tech clients, Rocsys guards its data carefully.
While we don’t have the precise details of the experiments Rocsys performed, we know their rented ArcticStore played an important role in testing their systems at extreme temperatures.
GET INSTANT COLD STORAGE FOR YOUR BUSINESS TOO!
Renting an ArcticStore or another cold storage solution from our collection is easy with TITAN.
With no long-term tie-ins and some of the best temperature-control tech on the market, we can provide containers for a week, a month, a year or indefinitely.
The main reason clients rent long-term instead of building permanent cold storage is flexibility. With TITAN, you can change your order to match your plans and market conditions.
Plus, there’s no CapEx, no construction time, and often no planning permission is required.
